Aaross Farm Horses
Our Story
Picture of Aaross farmAaross Farm Inc. is located  in the heart of Oxford County in Southwestern Ontario. We are within a 2-hour driving radius of the major centres in Southwestern Ontario - the Greater Toronto Area, Guelph, Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, London, Sarnia and Windsor. Extend the driving time to half a day and you can reach us from Detroit and Buffalo. The day-drive population includes most of Ontario and Quebec as well as New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, or approximately 75 million people.

Aaross Farm is owned and operated by Frank and Francine Gielis and Family. The Gielis moved from the Netherlands to Canada in the early seventies. When they bought a dairy farm, they put the names of their hometowns, Aarlanderveen and Oss, together and called their farm Aaross. Frank stayed in touch with the Dutch horse industry and when he was in need of a better quality dressage horse, he decided to import mares from Holland and start breeding. We also started a riding school.

In 2007 we sold the farm and retired. We have memories to last us a lifetime. We will forever remember those special events, the first Open House we had, the Vinyl Cafe CBC concert, the student's performance at the Woodstock Centennial Celebrations with the RCMP, The Award of Excellence, Doors Open Ontario, the many clinics, shows and performances we organized. We'll miss the people who came to visit us, visitors from all over the world, the Agritours, the local service clubs, the speaking engagements and the frequent drop-ins.

We will miss our "horse family", the students and boarders and our clients. In the riding school we have met and come to know many unbelievable kids and we have seen them develop into fantastic human beings, ready to tackle anything in their life, because being involved with horses gave them confidence, and taught them how to handle frustration, how to be patient and how to communicate without words.

You made us all so proud and to be able to send some of our students to Denmark to the World Championship where they represented Canada and placed very well, is a credit to our teacher Wendy and to the young people in this area.

We have bred some fantastic horses and sold them all over North America. The stallions, Rasputin, Socrates and Trudeau were the joy of our farm and we are thrilled to see several of their offspring doing very well in the competition ring.
